The Sea View campus consists of 70 beautifully appointed acres. The buildings located on the campus have fallen
into disrepair because dollars received by the skilled nursing facility must be used for patient care.
As a result, the Sea View Historic Foundation, Inc. was established to help raise and obtain funding to
stabilize some of the buildings on the campus.
The first building stabilization will be the Nurses' Residence. This will be developed as affordable senior housing. We anticipate that this renovation project will begin by Spring/Fall 2006.
Our next project is the stabilization of a Womens' Cottage for use as a medical museum.
Estimates indicate that the exterior stabilization cost will be approximately 1.2 million dollars.
We hope to raise the funding necessary to complete this project as well.
The creation of a fully functional medical museum has always been an exciting concept for us. We hope to have it available as a resource for the community and we will not charge admission fees.
We are in the process of submitting applications to bank foundations on Staten Island and requesting a matching subsidy from the "Save America's Treasures" program. This review process should be completed by the Fall of 2005. We have received notification from the National Parks Service that Sea View Campus has been designated as a National Landmark.
